What you could expect planning a foreign wedding...
- All Foreign documents must be translated - such as Divorce Decrees, Death certificates of widowers & Birth certificates.
- A Can. Lawyer, at your expense, must notarize documents.
- All this may take 6 moths. to a year to finalize.
- Chest X-rays & Blood tests may be required in some countries - for a fee
- Buying a marriage licence can take up to 3 days in certain countries.
- Ministers may cost as much a $600 to do the ceremony
- Same Gender marriages are not legal.
- Some marriages in these foreign countries may not be legal. (See Alert)

As No particular form of ceremony is required in Ont. ...The only thing required…Under Sec. 2002,c. ss.1,2. of the Ontario Marriage Act, reads: that in the presence of the person solemnizing the marriage & 2 witnesses, each of the parties shall declare 2 statements at the time of signing.
